Carefully read through this instruction manual befor
e you begin using the MD-410. I
t contains particularly
important passages concerning occupational safety principles when using the device. Such passages
are highlighted. Reading the manual will prev
ent potential injur
y by electric current or damage to the
device.
The multimeter was designed in accordance with the IEC-61010 standard r
egarding electronic
measuring devices in the category (CA
T III 300 V), 2nd degree of pollution. The CA
T III category is used to
measure circuits power
ed by a xed output power supply
, such as a relay, socket, switchboards
, power
supplies and short branching circuits and lighting systems in large buildings.
W
arning
Use the MD-410 multimeter only in the manner specied below
. O
ther uses may cause damage to the
device or injury to your health.
Comply with the following instructions:
•
Before measuring resistance
, diodes or current, disconnect the circuits from the power supply and
discharge high-voltage capacitors. U
se the corresponding function for the given measurement.
Before changing the range (of
a func
tion) disconnect the conductor from the cir
cuit being measured.
•
Make sure the device is not damaged before y
ou begin using the multimeter. If you nd obvious
signs of damage on the body of the device, do not perform any measurements! Check that the
surface of the multimeter does not have scratches and that the side joints are not coming apart.
•
Also check the insulation on the measuring probes. Damaged insulation may r
esult in injur
y by
electric current. Do not use damaged measuring probes!
3
•
Do not measure voltages above 300
V! If you will be measuring the current, check the multime-
ter's fuse and turn o the power supply to the circuit bef
ore you connect the multimeter. Bef
ore
measuring make sure the circular switch for the measuring range is in the c
or
rect position. Under
no circumstances should you make any changes in the measuring range (b
y moving the circular
switch for measuring programs) when measuring! It could lead to device damage
. When you are
measuring, connect the black conductor (probe) rst and then the red conductor (probe).
When
disconnecting the testing conductors, disconnect the red one rst.
•
If you nd that the meter is registering abnormal measurements
, stop using it. The fuse may be
damaged. If you are unsure of the cause of the def
ec
t, contact a service centre.
•
Do not measure voltages higher than the one indicated on the front panel of the multimet
er. Risk
of injury by electric current or damage to the multimeter!
•
Check that the multimeter is working properly before use.
T
est on a circuit with electrical values you know.
•
Before you connect the multimeter to a circuit y
ou intend to measure, turn o the power to the circuit.
•
Do not use or store the multimeter in environmen
ts with high temperature, dust or humidity. It is
also not recommended to use the device in envir
onments with potentially strong magnetic elds
or risk of explosion or re.
•
When changing parts of the multimeter (e.g. the battery or fuse) use spare parts of the same type
and specications. Change parts only when the multimeter is disconnected and turned o. Do
not change the 10 A/300 V fuse b
y yourself, please contact a service centre. Disconnect the testing
conductors from the tested circuit bef
ore opening the rear casing of the device.
•
Do not alter or otherwise inter
fer
e with the internal circuitr
y of the multimeter!
•
Please be careful when measuring voltages higher than 30
V AC rms, 42
V peak or 60 V DC.
There
is a risk of injury resulting from electric shock!
•
When using measuring tips, make sure you ar
e holding them behind the nger barr
iers.
•
Do not perform measurements if the multimeter's casing is removed or loose.
•
Change the batteries when an icon of a discharged battery appears
“
”
. In case you do not do so,
the following measurements ma
y not be precise. Incorrect measurements may then result in injuries
by electric current! Use only alkaline batteries, do not use re-chargeable batteries.
Maintenance Instructions
W
arning
Do not attempt to repair or modify the multimeter in any w
ay if you are not qualied to do so or do
not have access to the nec
essar
y calibration equipment. Make sure that water does not get in
to the
multimeter – you could prev
ent injur
y by electric current!
•
Disconnect the measuring tips from the tested circuit befor
e opening the casing of the multimeter.
•
Regularly clean the body of the multimeter with a moist cloth and a mild detergent. P
er
form cleaning
only when the multimeter is disconnected and turned o.
•
Do not use solvents or abrasive agents f
or cleaning!
•
If you haven't been using the multimeter for a longer period of time, turn it o and remove the batt
eries.
•
Do not store the multimeter in places with high humidity and temperatur
e or in environments
with strong magnetic elds!
Changing batteries
When the "
" symbol appears on the display
, this means the batter
y is low and must be immediately
changed.
T
o replace the batteries, unfasten the screw a
t the rear of the casing and remove the casing. Change
the discharged battery for a new one of the same type (9 V
, 6F22 type or equivalent) and adhere to the
correct polarity of the placed battery. Replace the rear casing
.
